JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Focus on the creation of next-generation search relevance techniques and strategies for LexisNexis, dramatically improving how users search and find the answers to their legal questions. Serve as acknowledged "go-to" person on coding and technical issues of search software applications. Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements, and write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of search engine plug-ins of moderate complexity. Complete complex bug fixes, design and work with complex data models, and conduct performance tuning and development of Solr plugins. Conduct code review, and mentor junior software developers interested in search engineering. Perform other duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field required.
• 7 years of experience in job offered or related occupations required.

• Also required is: 5 years of experience: utilizing Java/J2EE, Restful APIs, Json, XML, XQuery, XPath, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, and XSLT; using cloud environment including Amazon Web Services (AWS); using Databases like MarkLogic, MySQL, and Oracle; in source code management systems including TFS/VSTS and GIT; utilizing Apache Tomcat with monitoring application performance using Java Profiler and fine tune the queries to improve the performance for building complex solutions; using modern CI/CD standards using Jenkins to automate build and deployment pipelines; and utilizing monitoring or observability platform tools including Splunk and AWS Cloud Watch to triage production applications and understand the health of the system in real time.
• Employee reports to LexisNexis USA office in Raleigh, NC, but may telecommute from any location within the U.S.
• Experience can be concurrent.
