General Notes

This is a grant-funded position and reassignment will be based upon performance, progress toward research goals and continuation of funding. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Purpose

This position will be embedded within the Improving Developmental Experiences for Autism and developmental disabilities (IDEA) Research Lab and will support the coordination of the Mapping the Interactions of Language and Early motor Skills (MILES) in Down Syndrome Study and the Identifying and Distinguishing Early indicators of Autism in Latino children (IDEAL) Study. This includes working with children with Down syndrome, autism and other developmental disabilities, caregivers, and family members.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of federally funded research projects with internal and external collaborators facilitate regular team meetings, document research team decisions, track project milestones.
  • Oversee recruitment strategies of research participants throughout Texas; Monitor participant retention and engagement.
  • Supervise and assist with research data collection, including developmental, language, motor, and autism assessments and parent interviews; implement research fidelity protocols; conduct quality control procedures to ensure accurate data entry.
  • Assist in the supervision and training of research assistants; Develop training materials and protocols for standardized assessment and interview administration and ethical research conduct.
  • Assist in the development of progress reports, amendments, and renewals to university IRB and funding agencies.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, speech pathology, education, or other related field with at least 4 years of related experience. Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and confidential information. Proficient use of document and project/data management software, including but not limited to Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook), REDCap, etc. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with autism or other developmental disabilities. Values the contributions of others in the work environment. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in psychology, social work, speech pathology, education, or other related field with at least 2 years of related experience. Experience with developmental assessments (e.g., Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Differential Ability Scales-2 Early Years) and working with young children. Prior experience working with young children with autism and developmental disabilities and their families. Demonstrated ability to communicate (written and verbal) in English and Spanish and interact skillfully with investigators, staff, and partnering organizations.

Salary Range

$48,000-$60,000 - depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Work Shift

  • M-F, Flexible between 8am-6pm
