Job Summary:
Using a variety of methods and processes to layout, cut and identify a variety of composite materials. May be required to assist lower grade Operators.
Job Responsibilities:
• Works for APL’s, routings, specifications, and oral and written instructions to provide correct materials and patterns as required for composites/advanced composites parts fabrication. Operates the automated ply cutting machine and performs manual cutting of composites/advanced composites prepreg materials.
o Selects and load proper materials on cutting table.
o Accesses nest file, assure proper material roll out on cutting surface, correctly align cutting head at start point of program. May require troubleshooting and/or reprogramming of the nest file as required.
o Identifies plies to applicable kits and bag and store kits for first in-first out usage. Routinely takes inventory and rotates all kits and materials on hand.
o Maintains all necessary documentation and check materials for work-life conformity.
• May make minor adjustments to feed speeds and manual intervention of programs for cutting head start points. May also be required to replace the machines cutting blade when dull.
• Uses a variety of hand tools such as scissors, electric cutters, knives, markers, bag heat sealers, scale, and tape.
• Responsible for own quality of work and may be required to perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education:
Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.
Experience:
Requires a minimum one year of composites experience to become familiar with standards. Must successfully complete and pass the Textron Aviation blueprint course.
Working Conditions:
Good working conditions in controlled environment.
