Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Coordinator to oversee our safety programs and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management, continuous improvement initiatives, industrial hygiene, and environmental management.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions, focusing on continuous improvement.
- Lead training sessions and workshops to educate employees on safety practices, industrial hygiene, and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement, ensuring that safety protocols are followed across all departments.
- Develop and maintain work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to safety and health practices.
- Utilize learning management systems (LMS) to track safety training, development programs, and compliance activities, emphasizing continuous improvement metrics.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and recommend improvements to prevent reoccurrence, with a focus on integrating industrial hygiene practices.
- Manage environmental compliance related to stormwater management and air emissions, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and best practices.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and manage safety-related communications.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field, preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in safety management, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, industrial hygiene, and environmental management, particularly in stormwater and air emissions, preferably in general industry.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices, along with industrial hygiene and environmental principles.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and experience in training development.
- Preferred OSHA certifications: OSHA 10, OSHA 30, OSHA 511, OSHA 501.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or equivalent is preferred.
