Executive Underwriter, Retail Environmental (Markel-NE)

What you'll be doing:
- Under minimal management direction, utilize a broad range of underwriting expertise, industry knowledge, and business acumen in managing the underwriting process within highest level of authority;
- Promote the growth and development of less experienced underwriters and fosters and energized work environment;
- Lead others through change;
- Partner with assigned key brokers to implement strategies for growth;
- Draw upon resources to generate higher levels of profitable production from top performing brokers;
- Proactively resolve problems and anticipate issues that affect production and loss ratio objectives;
- Act as a product resource within region or product line;
- Demonstrate cross marketing and effective communication across all products and regions;
- Promote teaching on specific product line;
- Participates in product development efforts;
- Open to travel/frequent visits to brokers (20%).
What we're looking for:
- 7+ years of profitable retail environmental underwriting experience
- Desire to pursue education and on the job training regarding complex casualty underwriting
- College degree desired.
- Travel 25% required.

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. The salary for the position is $125K - $160K with a 45% bonus potential.
