Description
Position Focus:
The Personal Trainer/Nutritional Counselor is responsible for creating and implementing proper training/ counseling sessions with the client after a fitness assessment/ or nutritional assessment has been administered.
Qualifications:
1. Must be certified as a Personal Trainer ACE/ Nutritional Counselor or other organizations
2. Must have current First-Aid, CPR and AED before the first day of work
3. Instructor must be 18 years or older. and possess knowledge of all areas of personal training/ nutritional counseling
4. Must be able to work on their own without direction
5. Must be able to handle complaints and concerns from participants, and professionally respond to their comments

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform a full fitness/nutritional assessment and evaluate gathered information. The trainer must also give client a written assessment within 24/48 hours of the actual assessment
2. Develop and implement the proper training program to meet the needs of the client
3. Responsible for setting up training sessions with the client within 24/48 hours of receiving a request
4. The Personal Trainer will adhere to the “IDEA Code of Ethics” (Sheet attached) while employed with Itasca Park District.
5. The Personal Trainer will adhere to and Sign the “Employment Agreement” (form attached)
6. Responsible for keeping track of training sessions by swiping out all sessions on the computer
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a positive attitude toward participants, co-workers, supervisor, and all staff
2. All trainers will wear proper uniform while training and maintain professionalism while in the fitness center.
3. Maintain weekly time cards, showing the client and number of sessions provided
4. Will participate in any mandatory staff meeting necessary throughout the year
5. All Personal Trainers/Nutrition Counselors will help maintain the cleanliness of the Fitness Center.
Required Knowledge:
The Personal Trainer/Nutritional Counselor will put together their own exercise/nutritional prescriptions for each client. They will also need to keep up with the new trends by attending certain amount of continuing education courses. The instructor may also have to perform First Aid or CPR if required.

Must possess good safety awareness and judgment
Physical Demands & Environmental Conditions:
Injury could occur due to lifting too heavy of weights. Many clients like their sessions very early in the morning or late evening, which could lead to long hours.
Fitness Center temperature may be too cool for the trainer. Sunshine may cause excessive glare at different times of the day.
