Sr. Manager, Corporate Security

Your Role

The Corporate Security team develops and implements strategy and operations across all office locations, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and protect the people, assets, and operations of Blue Shield of California. The Senior Manager of Corporate Security will report to the Director of Corporate Security. In this role you will be responsible for identifying physical security gaps, implementing improvement plans, leading employee training, managing third-party vendors, developing budgets, and fostering strong relationships with law enforcement partners.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

• Be a subject matter expert in physical security and safety who manages the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of physical security and safety policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures
• Ensure regulatory and compliance tasks are accurately completed through regular assessments and audits
• Establish and implement short to mid-term operational plans (e.g., 1-3 years) with measurable contribution toward the achievement of increased efficiency, improved services, and enhanced business operations
• Regularly report on department operations, incidents, and compliance to leadership
• Develop a variety of security and safety metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), making recommendations to management based on analysis and benchmarks
• Direct staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security and safety processes, practices and policies throughout the organization to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure and liability in all areas of physical and personal risk
• Support the company’s environmental health and safety program with audits and site assessments, as well as the risk program to proactively identify potential risks and mitigations
• Create and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and crisis management protocols, in collaboration with other departments (e.g., IT, HR, Real Estate) to ensure integrated security measures are in place across the organization
• Partner with technology verticals to oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of physical security systems (e.g., surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems)
• Oversee physical security vendors, including onsite guarding services, and assist in contract negotiations and site evaluations
• Support the company’s environmental health and safety program with audits and site assessments, as well as the risk program to proactively identify potential risks and mitigations
• Partner with Internal Audit business verticals to ensure compliance with identified deficiencies and take a proactive approach to mitigate future gaps

Your Knowledge and Experience

• Requires a bachelor's degree in business, management, criminal justice, or an equivalent combination of education, military, law enforcement, or security and safety
• Requires a minimum of 10 years of work experience in corporate security and workplace/employee safety with at least 4 of those years in a managerial role
• Requires demonstrated skills in people/team leadership and strategic planning
• Professional Certifications strongly desired: Physical Security Professional (PSP) and Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) designations
• Flexibility to work non-traditional schedules, including holidays, nights, and some weekends, to adapt to the company’s operations
• Travel up to 25% for site inspections may be required
• Experience in Executive Protection and event security services for corporate events, conferences, product releases, and more
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work autonomously, and navigate ambiguity effectively
• Familiarity with security program automation and implementation
• Demonstrated ability to utilize security technology and computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Suite, Genetec, Ontic, Ambient, C-Cure 9000 and other common physical security systems)
