JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary: The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for managing a team of Territory Sales Managers (TSM), Brokers and Foodservice Sales Representatives (FSR) within a determined region; overseeing the sales activities that are essential for product sales growth and acts as a close liaison to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

Essential Functions: Regional Sales Managers have several key management roles:
Personnel Management:
- Builds strong teams: Collaborate with the Corporate Recruiter to find and hire talented TSMs, Brokers and FSRs. Ensure positive onboarding experiences through quality training and coaching of new hires via the Brakebush/Sales Onboarding process.
- Develops a team who achieves sales and professional goals through sharing of company vision and objectives, establishing account prospects and setting annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Provide ongoing motivation and feedback by meeting with TSMs on a consistent basis, providing performance evaluations, salary/bonus reviews and other talent management activities.
- Ensures team education and updates on sales strategy, new product roll-outs, and account management process/platforms, e.g. Blacksmith, Business Intelligence, CRM, SharePoint, etc.
Regional Management:
- Strategically plans and executes long-term regional strategies, annual goals and short-term objectives that support the company mission.
- Manages current and new Key Account Sales through prospecting and relationship building with key sales targets determined annually. Includes presenting new items and menu concepts and arranging plant tours.
- Supports the RSM team by participating in weekly huddles with RSM team, in attendance at two annual sales meetings and other strategic planning meetings as required by the VP of Sales & Marketing.
TSM/Broker Market Sales Management:
Supports the TSM/Broker Market Sales by attending sales meetings and food shows as needed, and participates in the annual distributor marketing programs, distributor business reviews and oversees the development and implementation of the distributor sales spiffs and promotions.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum ten-years combined industry sales and sales management experience
- High level of professional sales process, strategy, and interpersonal “soft skills” (prospect, build rapport, present, negotiate, handle objections, customer service, closing)
- Thorough knowledge of distributor and operator accounts within assigned region
- Ability to learn and apply basic culinary skills necessary for product presentations
- Team player supportive of RSM and Business Development teams and National Account Representatives
- Effective and self-sufficient time and management, planning and organizational skills
- Competent in business productivity software (MS Office); ability to learn company-specific CRM
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education/degree
- Prior experience as a Regional Sales Manager or long tenure as TSM
- High skill level with numerous systems/programs: Blacksmith, SAP, CRM
- Culinary experience
Required Details:
- Residence must be somewhere within the assigned region
- Must have reasonable access to an airport
- Valid driver’s license in good standing (DOT regulations)
- Credit card accessibility with reasonable available credit limit
Supervisory Responsibility: Directly manages 7 or more Territory Sales Managers and Brokers.
Work Environment: This position involves driving on a regular basis to meet customers; desk/office work and food show environments.
Physical Demands: Long periods of sitting, driving, and walking. Some lifting during food/trade shows and product presentations (30 lb. lift requirement)
Position Type: Exempt, full-time
Travel: Almost daily travel within territory; Minimum of 40% travel that includes overnights (outside of territory/state for regional and annual national sales meetings, conventions, food shows, etc.)
