Responsibilities
Job Summary
The CNA will interact directly with patients, providing therapeutic support, comfort and transportation within the facility, monitoring patient vital signs and assisting with daily living needs. The CNA shall be a dedicated, compassionate and energetic individual who will serve the significant role of identifying and communicating patient needs and addressing them directly or in conjunction with nursing and other facility clinical staff
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily living activities. This includes delivering meals to patients, turning and ambulating patients and providing plenty of fresh water, as well as extra nourishment between meals
- Help patients with personal hygiene.
- Offers therapeutic support to patients, responding to concerns and encouraging their continued work in accomplishing recovery.
- Provide adjunct care for the patient, such as ice packs and non-sterile dressings
- Check vital signs and record daily information in the patient’s chart
- Assist the nurses and other staff as needed
- Adhere to professional standards, follow policies and procedures and abide by federal, state and local requirements, as well as Joint Commission standard
- Complete Hourly Checks for patients
- Assist with moving patients as needed
- Other duties as assigned within scope of work
Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- Completion of a state-approved CNA certification training course (Please note this position is located at a facility that the Board of Nursing does not approve of CNA hours for recertification. You would need to seek your 8 hours per year for CNA hours for recertification elsewhere).
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and to handle multiple tasks safely and effectively
- Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate sensitive information with empathy (“bedside manner”)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
