Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care, Family or Adult certified) or Physician Assistant to join our Neurology team in a part-time (.5 FTE) role. This position offers an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered neurologic care within a nationally recognized healthcare organization, Level 1 trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. The APP will work closely with neurologists and an interdisciplinary care team to evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. Responsibilities may include inpatient consults, rounding, coordination of care, patient education, and ongoing management of chronic neurologic disorders. Duties also include inpatient stroke team first responder.This role provides the opportunity to be part of a supportive, collegial team while maintaining work-life balance through a part-time schedule, all within the Cleveland Clinic health system known for excellence in patient care, innovation, and professional development.The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and a strong team player with excellent communication skills. Prior neurology experience is preferred, but motivated candidates with relevant APP experience and a strong interest in neurology will be considered.Flexible schedule. Shifts will be 7 -12hour shifts per month (2 -10hour shift/week also can be considered). Shift hours 6a-6p. Weekends will be part of the role with the expectation of 4 weekend shifts per month. Night shifts only if the provider is Acute Care or PA and accepts Category 3 level position. Holidays requirement is 2 per year. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.  Works in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
  • Performs routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
  • May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by license through applicable state board and Cleveland Clinic policies.
  • Educates patients and answers questions regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.
  • Participates in medical team rounds; collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care.
  • Refers patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment.
  • Ensures continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary.
  • Participates in quality monitoring thru the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a periodic basis to assure quality
