About the role

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the health of animals within the zoo and monitor their eating and sleeping habits
  • Educate visitors about animals within the zoo, including their preferred diets and natural habitat
  • Tend to the specialized care of various species, including trimming nails, bathing coats, and cleaning teeth
  • Observe animals' behavior to ensure timely and prompt care should problems arise
  • Interact with guests
  • Maintain and clean animal enclosures and ensure a safe and secure habitat
  • Train and handle various species while considered the best practices in interacting with each animal
  • Bathe and groom animals
  • Feed and care for various species
  • Provide enrichment for various species
  • Must be flexible and understand that your job duties may change from time to time and that you may be asked to help in other areas.


Requirements

  • 3 years of Experience working with birds/reptiles/mammals
  • Must work directly with public
  • Must be able to work all shifts - AM, PM, and weekends
  • Must also be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Willingness to learn and master husbandry procedures
  • An optimistic, positive and cheerful outlook is necessary

Education:

  • A degree in related field is preferred but not necessary

Schedule:

  • Full-time
  • Part-time
  • Monday-Friday
  • Weekends
  • Holidays


Pay is $17-$18 plus bonuses
