Requirements
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the operation of both properties that compose Block Party Hotels. Your leadership and strategic planning skills are integral to maximizing operations and guest satisfaction. We’re looking for someone to lead our staff by example. As such, the General Manager is expected to embody company culture and values. You will create an environment that fosters teamwork, builds morale, and increases retention.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Effectively oversee staffing to include hiring, retaining, & motivating team members with emphasis on excellent communications & setting clear goals and expectations.
- Ensure full compliance to Hotel operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Lead all key property issues including capital projects, customer service and refurbishment.
- Handle customer concerns and oversee the service recovery procedures.
- Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the hotel's annual Operating Budget, Marketing & Sales Plan and Capital Budget.
- Manage on-going profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded.
- Deliver hotel budget goals and set other short and long term strategic goals for the property.
- Develop and implement improvement actions, carry out costs savings.
- A strong understanding and monthly critique of P&L statements.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding and management of the sales process.
- Ability to “jump in” and provide working support and assistance, to each department on a day-to-day basis.
- Ability to learn, understand, implement, and analyze company wide programs such as, but not limited to, M3 for accounting, Paylocity for Payroll, MEWS for reservations, Guest Voice for overall guest satisfaction, Engineering preventative maintenance programs for upkeep and overall appearance of property, I-Buy and Avendra programs for purchasing.
- Strong aptitude for daily and weekly data entry and deposit logs.
- Working knowledge of hotel accounting principles, profitability, and cash flow.
- Participate and contribute to companywide General Manager Teams calls.
- Develop and distribute weekly forecast.
- Review departmental schedules ensuring CPOR (Cost Per Occupied Room) is in line with budget.
- Work closely with Corporate HR to ensure all employment workflows are processed accurately.
- Ability to process, analyze, and transmit Bi-Weekly payroll.
- Ability to develop and implement a strong, on-going, attraction and retention employment process.
- Ensure all business and operational permits and licenses are current and updated yearly.
- Obtain Pool and Spa Operator License and work with Engineering Team to manage pool operations.
- 3-5 years experience at management level in a hotel environment.
