Our Primary Care Practice—serving Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics—is a busy, patient-centered environment with a strong focus on access, efficiency, and preventive care. We are committed to providing exceptional experiences for our patients while supporting our physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) as a collaborative care team.

The Medical Assistant Phone Position plays a key role in keeping our clinics running smoothly. This is primarily a sit-down role responsible for managing a high volume of incoming phone calls with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail. The individual in this position serves as a vital connection between patients and the care team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping patients, multitasking in a fast-paced setting, and being an essential support to both patients and providers.

About Outpatient Clinics 

Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area. 

Scope of work  

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients. You will be answering high-volume incoming calls in a courteous, compassionate, and efficient manner. Gathering patient concerns, symptoms, and requests and documenting them accurately in the electronic health record. Appropriately routing urgent and non-urgent calls to clinical staff. Communicating normal test results to patients and assisting with prescription refill requests and result routing. Scheduling appointments, follow-ups, and procedure visits.

Qualifications  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required

  • Successful completion of a competency-based medical assistant training program Required

  • 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred

  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days

  • One of the following Required within 120 Days

    • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

    • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

    • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)

    • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)

    • NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
