Job Summary
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality planning during the
earliest phases of the Product Development Process (PDP). This role focuses on building strong foundations
for design quality through structured risk management, lessons learned application, and critical design
reviews. The Quality Engineer will work closely to apply APQP tools such as FMEA, control plans, and
drawing reviews, while contributing to new product reliability and manufacturability.
This position will sit onsite in our Costa Mesa offices with a hybrid schedule.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Support early risk management activities: lessons learned gathering, FMEA facilitation, and tracking mitigations in collaboration with design engineering
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews (Electrical, Mechanical, and Systems) to identify how critical requirements are validated and provide feedback from a quality perspective
- Collaborate with engineering to review engineering drawings to ensure critical design aspects are properly identified, tolerance-checked, and marked for downstream quality control
- Support preparation of Quality Plans and part qualification activities for prototype builds and transition to supplier quality.
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or related field)

5+ years of industry experience in product development, manufacturing, or in a quality-related role.

Experience with APQP tools (FMEA, SPC, PPAP)

Experienced with process control practices in the following types of operations desired: PCBA assembly,
plastic injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, system assembly, and test.

Understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerancing, and qualification for new parts and
assemblies.
- Experience with structured problem solving (8D) and data analysis
- Communcation: being able to summarize and provide project meeting level communication

The range for this position is $91,000 to $164,000. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant’s experience and geographic location.
