Position Summary  

Canal Alliance’s Policy and Civic Engagement (PACE) Program is the managing partner of the Marin Climate Justice Collaborative (Marin CJC); an innovative project focused on environmental and climate justice in Marin County, initially based in the Canal District of San Rafael and unincorporated Marin City. The primary project goal is to build resident and organizational capacity to develop a Climate Resilient Community Vision Plan in each community of focus. PACE also manages Nuestro Canal, Nuestro Futuro (NCNF), a resident-led initiative that represents community vision planning efforts focused specifically on the Canal District and immediate surrounding low-income Latino neighborhoods. 

The PACE team seeks a Climate Justice Project Manager with excellent project management and stakeholder coordination skills, who is dedicated to uplifting community voice and ushering transformative impact in underserved communities through climate justice and equity driven community development initiatives.  

The Climate Justice Project Manager works under the Director of Policy and Civic Engagement to provide project management and administrative leadership for all the PACE team’s community development initiatives. This includes developing and controlling budgets for multiple contracts and grants, co-developing and implementing policies and procedures to comply with funder requirements and deliverables, participation in obtaining new funds/grants, coordinating external partners and stakeholders, integrating programing with others in the organization, and providing supervision to program staff.  

Full-time exempt position: Based off a 4-day, 32-hour work week. 

Schedule: Monday through Thursday 9am to 5pm, with occasional evenings or weekends. 

Location: San Rafael, with occasional WFH opportunity. 

Essential Functions  

• Develop detailed project plans; 
• Manage PACE project budgets for climate justice initiatives; 
• Support coordination of community engagement efforts; 
• Co-develop and implement project management policies and procedures; 
• Co-develop community education curriculum and presentations;? 
• Co-develop MOUs and Sub-Contracts with external partners; 
• Support partnership development with regional and local climate justice stakeholders; 
• Coordinate and facilitate meetings with internal and external partners;  
• Maintain and update project documentation; 
• Track project progress, timelines, and ensure tasks are completed on time; 
• Prepare accurate and timely grant reporting which includes supporting partners and stakeholders in completing reports;?  
• Maintain meeting notes, participation records and deliverables, expenses, and support meeting facilitation; 
• Provide regular updates to partners via newsletters and similar methods; 
• Prepare and present effective written and verbal reports and presentations;  
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.  

Requirements

• At least two years of experience leading project management and stakeholder coordination; 
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study, or equivalent experience; 
• Strong commitment to Canal Alliance’s mission. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

• Knowledge of project management principles;
• Strong relationship-based leadership and team-building skills;  
• Familiarity with climate justice and community resilience;  
• Familiarity with popular education and community empowerment;  
• Strong organization and communication skills, with proactive follow-through;  
• Proficient with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Salesforce, and project management tools;  
• Spoken and written Spanish proficiency preferred.
