Position Summary:

Laronde is seeking a creative and detail-oriented scientist/engineer to join our team as part of the pre-clinical process development group. The key  function for the role is the optimization and delivery of automated methods to the pre-clinical team. The candidate must be independent and motivated and be able to work efficiently within a multi-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be a scientist with a strong background in method development and experience with running automated liquid handlers. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the pre-clinical production team for our eRNA platform encompassing high-throughput in vitro transcription, automated purification and formulation as well as other critical responsibilities.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and implement methods and standard operating procedures to produce large numbers of eRNA molecules
• Conduct laboratory scale molecular biology and production of RNA drug products for in vitro experiments
• Evaluate and troubleshoot novel ideas for automation of a nucleic acid manufacturing process
• Develop novel procedures for scale-out of the nucleic acid manufacturing process
• Work closely with vendors and instrumentation specialists
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for clear communication of scientific findings across interdisciplinary teams
• Keep clear and concise notes on executed experimental procedures

 

Qualifications:

• BSc in Chemistry, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related discipline with 6+ years experience.
• Demonstrate multiple years of experience in successful use of Akta instrumentation for purification of proteins and/or oligonucleotides
• Demonstrated success on the development and execution of automated methods on robotic liquid handlers e.g. Hamilton, Tecan and Biomek etc.
• Understanding and success in implementation of molecular biology associated analytics (gel electrophoresis, UV-vis, capillary electrophoresis, HPLC)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
