Overview
The Catering Sales Manager has a primary duty of making sales and contracts for the Mayo Civic Center. This position is responsible for generating, managing, and coordinating outside catering sales, coordinates the licensing of space and booking of events for the facility and preparation of catering internal and external communications. Under general guidance, the Catering Sales Manager will manage all aspects of catering from booking, through contract negotiation and finalization, to group reception and event catering. In addition, the Catering Sales Manager provides collaboration and administrative support to the Catering team. This position reports to the Vice of Sales & Food & Beverage General Manager.
This role will pay a salary of $65,000 to $75,000.

Responsibilities

- Positively represent the facility to potential clients; respond to inquiries regarding facility use, send out food and beverage materials, and provide in-person site tour of the venue.
- Blocking event space and other booking information in the computerized event booking and management system.
- Reviews documents for completeness and accuracy; assists in following up with facility users regarding deposits, insurance, and other related license agreement requirements in an efficient and timely manner.
- Serves as primary group contact once the contract is signed; responds to questions or concerns in a timely manner.
- Coordinate all catering requirements and client requests in a timely and helpful manner maintaining accurate records for all catering sales activities in conjunction.
- Responsible for negotiating, authoring, and submitting finalized contracts and BEOs to client and internal staff.
- Assist with follow-up of guests’ experience at the venue, ensuring that all issues have been addressed.
- Communicate daily with Vice President of Sales and food and beverage teams about the needs of our guests and their expectations. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization: front line service staff to senior leadership.
- Represent the department at regular operational and/or sales meetings.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of catered events, as directed.
- Ability to proactively interpret and understand the needs of the client and provide the event vision to the operations team to ensure the highest level of execution.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Build relationships by networking and prospecting with key decision markers, establish and develop strong and effective relationships with influencers using professional, courteous, and ethical interpersonal interaction.
- Ensure that all financial reporting is completed and accurate in a timely manner to ensure prompt billing and organizational corporate reporting.
- Perform other duties, as required.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); college degree strongly preferred
- 3-5 years related hospitality industry experience and/or training.
- Sales experience, preferably in a sales capacity at a hotel, convention center or related event venue highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and adhere to high standard of business etiquette, professional verbal, and written communication.
- Ability to consistently represent the Company in a professional, positive, and knowledgeable manner always, while adhering to the highest standard of confidentiality and discretion. <
