Carpenter Foreman-Mount Sinai West
The foreman supervises carpentry, locksmith, and utility staff, performing, and in part directing general maintenance, construction, repairs to woodwork, furniture, equipment and fixtures for maintenance.
- Constructs and maintains wooden equipment, fixtures and structural parts of building
- Perform most of cabinet and finished work.
- Works from drawings or blueprints, written or oral instructions, surveys job site, determines method and materials needed, and performs and/or directs completion of same.
- Builds special wooden equipment, such as display cases, cabinets, bookcases, and other finished work, also carts, trucks, etc.
- Installs and repairs locks and door checks.
- Directs the carpenters, locksmith, and utility mechanics in their day-to-day work assignments.
- Trains carpenters and inspects work, assists in appraising performance and provides feedback to department leadership.
- Coordinates the keying system for all buildings and door operating equipment.
- Maintains stock par levels of department material and orders replacements. Examples include general stock, requisition lumber, hardware, glass and related supplies.
- Operates power woodworking machinery such as band saw, circular saw, lathe, saw, planer and sander to make parts for furnishings and fixtures that require closely fitted parts, also caring for and maintaining tools and equipment safe operation.
- Records time and material daily.
- Works with other trades in the Department and performs other work assigned work as requested..
- Inspecting work in progress and upon completion, and ensuring projects meet quality standards.
- Enforcing safety practices and industry standards and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Providing technical advice and assistance, and exchanging information with clients, owners, and other parties.
- Assist in coordinating and implementing emergency preparations in advance of storms and emergency events.
- Develop project cost estimates for interdepartmental work.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Five to seven years’ experience as a journeyman carpenter, plus two years supervisory experience.

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $53.83 - $53.83 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
