Banksia – The RCH's Adolescent Mental Health Ward
Banksia Ward is a dynamic 16-bed inpatient unit dedicated to supporting young people aged 13 to 18 years who are experiencing a range of acute mental health challenges
At Banksia, you’ll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that includes consultant psychiatrists, mental health nurses, psychologists, and family peer support workers, and teachers with special education expertise. Together, we use a holistic approach to help young people regain stability, build resilience, and return to their communities with confidence.

The Opportunity
As the Banksia Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), you will support the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) by coordinating daily clinical operations of the ward, managing resources, and providing senior clinical leadership to the Banksia nursing team.
Your Key duties will include:
- acting as the shift leader
- ensuring patient-centered, recovery-focused care, and trauma-informed care
- providing role-modelling to junior staff
- facilitating collaborative multi-disciplinary communication.
You will also be responsible for assuming the duties of the NUM in their absence.
Classification for this position will range from NP83 – NP74 ($116,932.40 - $120,874 per annum pro rata) classification codes in line with the new Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement 2024 -2028.

What you'll bring to the role:
- A Post Graduate in Mental Health Nursing or working towards or completed a specialist undergraduate mental health nursing program
- Successful completion of a Graduate Nurse Program
- Acute inpatient mental health experience
