We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible.We are searching for a dedicated and experienced Child Respite Provider to provide companionship, support, and supervision to a very young boy with autism and speech delay. As a Respite Provider, you will be giving the main caregiver/parent much needed breaks for her own self-care. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, reliability, and trustworthiness. Prior experience working with autistic children is preferred. This boy loves playing outside in the backyard. He also likes animals, arts and crafts, and using his tablet.
Location: Holcombe, WI Pay: $14.13 per hour
Schedule: 6 hours per week – FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING (days, afternoons, evenings, wknds.) Potential to increase hours/possible overnights after a relationship has been established.
Responsibilities: · Provide personal cares as needed (dressing, toileting/changing diaper) · Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction · Be mindful of behaviors and redirect when necessary. · Observe and report any concerns or changes about the child to family · Supervise the child at all times.
Skills: · Experience working with clients with autism · Communication skills: ability to anticipate non-verbal cues/prompts · Strong observational skills to monitor the boy at all times.
Qualifications: · Authorized to work in the United States · Valid Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance · Experience working with Autistic children · Clean Background check · Prior experience in Health Sciences, Special Education (teachers or paraprofessionals) preferred.
