We're hiring a Senior Director, Development Operations who will lead the Mid-Market Development Support Team. In this role, you will lead the day-to-day business operations associated with supporting the development team that fundraises and implements local events in the mid-market territories of Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Oklahoma. The position is responsible for successfully leading and coaching six non-exempt staff members, as well as 1-2 seasonal temporary staff.

This is a home-based position, and the individual must live in the Dallas, TX or Austin, TX areas.

Responsibilities

The position is responsible for all support functions related to the implementation of approximately 35-40 fundraising events per year, typically including a local Heart Walk, CycleNation, Go Red for Women luncheon, and Heart Ball in each territory. You will coordinate and supervise all support functions including but not limited to data entry and quality in all event systems; logistical and administrative support before, during, and after events; accounts receivable and payable; creation and printing of marketing materials and event collateral; event website management; and other development-related project support. As the manager of several non-exempt staff, this role is also responsible for approving timesheets, coaching team members to achieve success, conducting performance reviews, coordinating resources for the team, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. 

Travel is required up to 12 times per year for 2- to 3-day stints to locations around Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Oklahoma, particularly in the months of February-May and September-November, to support the execution of fundraising events in person.

 

  • Ensure all project and customer-service needs are met for Mid-Market Development field staff and volunteers, with assistance from the regional Business Operations Director.
  • Develop and implement streamlined, standardized procedures in conjunction with Development and Business Operations Director to ensure the timely and accurate completion of all requests and entry of all event-related data and finances. Ensure your team has the training necessary to accurately enter data, pull reports, and assist Development staff with most data-related requests.
  • Keep the Support Team and the Development staff (Directors, VPs, and SVPs) on timeline with all aspects of event planning (physical materials, vendors, design work, websites, data quality, in-person event responsibilities, etc.). Provide proactive support, knowledge, and training to avoid last-minute tasks.
  • Supervise the team’s response quality to ensure top-notch customer service and emotional intelligence in emails and phone calls. Coach team to provide excellent communication and to build lasting relationships with staff.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in all tasks owned by the Mid-Market Support Team – data entry, income & expense accounting, reporting, collateral content and branding, in-person event execution, cash handling, bulk print projects, and more. Quickly address issues in collaboration with Business Operations and Development VPs/SVP.
  • Develop and implement ideas to better processes and provide better-quality support to mid-markets and the region. Communicate new procedures often and dispel confusion.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships between Mid-Market Support Team and Development staff and maintain partnerships with cross-functional departments. Set boundaries and realistic expectations between all parties, striving to be as solution oriented as possible.
  • Provide regular status updates to the Mid-Market leadership and influence adherence to critical procedures and deadlines.
