Phlebotomist Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures using proper techniques
Accurately identify patients prior to specimen collection
Ensure specimens are labeled correctly and meet testing requirements
Provide appropriate post-phlebotomy care to patients
Process, handle, and transport specimens according to protocol
Assist with pre-testing duties as defined by department policies
Maintain phlebotomy supply inventory and restock as needed
Follow all safety procedures, including infection control and specimen handling
Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, nurses, and providers
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing training
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior phlebotomy or healthcare experience preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology helpful but not required
Phlebotomy training or certification beneficial but not required
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and patient interaction skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
