The Merchant Attachment team is responsible for driving repeatable cross-functional efforts to drive merchant acquisition, migration & revenue through our Partner relationships. We are looking for an exceptional leader who will lead a team responsible for setting up scalable, repeatable, predictable merchant attachment processes, working horizontally across the organization to deliver on key objectives.
They should be an experienced leader to develop shared objectives across cross-functional teams that support merchant acquisition and migration through our Partners, and to create clear mechanisms to measure progress against goals.
As the Sr Director, Merchant Attachment, they will partner closely with leaders across data & analytics, finance, sales, servicing, marketing, and product and leverage quantitative and qualitative insights to provide recommendations on the viability of new initiatives and the most effective merchant attachment strategies.
The ideal candidate will have a general management skillset, will excel at setting up processes designed for scale, and will be comfortable with analytics, modeling, and data-based insights. This leader should know how to coordinate effectively with internal cross-functional partners and have a strong grasp of business economics and P&Ls. A deep sense of ownership, drive, and entrepreneurship is essential.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement robust go-to-market merchant attachment strategies aligned with organizational objectives and market trends. Gather inputs from and coordinate with internal cross-functional stakeholders (including sales, marketing, risk, compliance, product, engineering, finance as needed) to drive execution of your strategy. Identify key target segments, value propositions, and competitive differentiators to maximize penetration.
Drive the strategy, analysis, and execution approach for accelerating merchant attachment for each of our partners. This will include deeply understanding our various integrations, verticals, and merchant types, to create a full GTM plan by partner.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of initiatives. Continuously monitor performance, analyze results, and iterate on strategies to optimize outcomes and drive revenue growth.
Collaborate with Partner Sales to identify partner stakeholders who will champion PayPal and gain alignment between PayPal and our partner’s executive teams to drive merchant attachment campaigns and initiatives to their merchants.
Actively engage in monitoring merchant attachment progress and monitor competitor activity.
Their team will serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding merchant attachment initiatives. Provide regular updates, reports, and insights to senior leadership, fostering transparency and alignment.
Lead a team dedicated to merchant attachment, carving out high-impact projects for individuals, and supporting career development and growth.
Qualifications:
12+ years of experience leading go-to-market growth, strategic partnerships, business development, corporate development, or related field, in a highly matrixed global organization
Thorough understanding of payment method dynamics and business models
Business acumen and a strong understanding of product strategy. They excel at identifying business opportunities and navigating commercial challenges.
Distinctive problem-solving, strategic, and analytical capabilities, and experience building trusted relationships with executive stakeholders.
Ability to communicate, present, and craft compelling narratives to influence internal and external technical and business stakeholders across diverse teams at all levels.
Deep comfort operating in the ambiguity of an ever-evolving product that operates at scale globally.
Ability to effectively model, manipulate data and work with analytics tools turning them into insightful business recommendations to optimize strategy.
BS/BA required; MBA or Master’s degree a plus
