Description
The Facilities Division is hiring a Military Firefighter Crew Chief position that under general supervision of the Assistant Fire Chief, is responsible as a crew chief for the supervision of a crew of one or more pieces of equipment.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Maintains a crew and equipment and fire center in a state of readiness to mitigate emergency incidents.
  • Directs and participates in on the job training activities for all fire personnel and maintains records and certifications.
  • Directs activities of a crew and equipment at emergency incidents through size-up and incident management.
  • Performs interior fire attack with a crew for purposes of rescue and fire extinguishment.
  • Directs and performs fire fighting, rescue, hazardous materials control, and disaster relief responsive to requests pursuant to authorized mutual-aid agreements.
  • Participates in training exercises and assessments with mutual-aid agreement partners.
  • Directs and takes part in the inspection of fire protection equipment and pre-planning of buildings on site.
  • Studies regulations and procedures pertaining to fire and emergency operations and daily functions.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years experience in fire fighting operations.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional training in the above will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must have Military driver's license, Department of Defense Fire Fighter II certification, Department of Defense Airport Fire Fighter certification, Department of Defense Driver/Operator (ARFF) certification, Department of Defense Hazardous Materials Operations certification, Department of Defense Fire Officer I certification, Department of Defense Fire Instructor I certification and Department of Defense Fire Inspector I certification. http://www.dodffcert.com/ Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
