Position Summary
Performs duties associated with the day-to-day management of a fleet of heavy equipment and vehicles including related reports, maintenance program and management of daily operations. Responsible for the management of equipment rental agreements and life cycle of company owned equipment to optimize company’s bottom line profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates repairs and maintenance to be performed by mechanics and by third party vendors.
- Prioritize requests from the field and assign the most appropriate personnel to the task(s).
- Assists Construction Managers in the negotiation and acquisition of rental equipment including review and approval of all rental agreements with vendors.
- Coordinates mobilization and demobilization of equipment to and from the job site(s).
- Responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures related to equipment.
- Promotes and communicates company commitment to safety by identifying and mitigating task-related safety risks.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
- 5 year’s experience in fleet management.
- Ability to mentor and train staff.
- 30 Hour OSHA training.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive on behalf of company business.
Preferred Qualifications
- The following safety training is preferred, but not mandatory. Company will provide additional training, as necessary.
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER training.
- Competent Person Safety Training
- 8-Hour Supervisory Training
- 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training
- First Aid and CPR
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to embrace a culture of safety.
- Experience working in an environment which demands outstanding safety performance a plus.
- Operate heavy power-driven equipment.
- Perform a variety of skilled construction and maintenance tasks.
- Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods in unfavorable weather conditions.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate clearly and concisely.
- Exemplify a strong work ethic.
- Work extended hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Operational characteristics of a variety of heavy, power-driven equipment.
- Maintenance requirements of heavy, power-driven equipment.
- Methods and materials used in general construction and maintenance work.
- Principles and techniques of maintenance activities.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Understand proper use of hand tools.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, extended standing or walking on project sites, climbing in and out of equipment, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Work conditions and demands may vary, with possible exposure to heavy machinery, chemicals, dust, fumes, noise, and extreme weather. Proper PPE, including protective eyewear, gloves, a hard hat, and steel-toed boots, is required. Effective communication, tool use, and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
