Senior Director, Revenue Accounting

The Senior Director, Revenue Accounting will be responsible for managing the Order to Cash cycle and related month-end close process for revenue. This candidate will have frequent interactions with sales, operations, legal, and finance teams and will be instrumental in ensuring an accurate and efficient recording of revenue in addition to serving as a subject matter expert in all aspects of revenue recognition. An ideal candidate will have an extensive US GAAP technical revenue accounting background, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of building and managing a team of high-performing individuals. This position will report to the SVP, Chief Accounting Officer.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Maintain revenue accounting policies in accordance with ASC 606 and related position papers, accounting issues and required financial statement footnote disclosures. This will include position papers on revenue recognition issues such as lease accounting classifications, bill and hold transactions, lease accounting and other complex transactions.

· Maintain internal controls and evaluate actions required for compliance with the company's revenue accounting process, including review of the billings process, conformance with in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX).

· Responsible for oversight of revenue related balance sheet accounts such as unbilled receivables and deferred revenue, including the appropropriate presentation of current and long-term portions

· Provide expertise on all revenue recognition practices and decisions for accounting, forecasting, sales, product management, legal and customer support

· Communicate and establish relationships with internal teams (Sales, Product Management, Alliances, Legal, Customer Support, IT, Financial Compliance); act as liaison and be the advocate for system improvements, product introductions and/or changes, and other procedures having a revenue or accounting impact; provide and implement suggestions for areas of process improvement to ensure efficiencies amongst all teams

· Responsible for managing revenue related support provided to external auditors for annual audits and quarterly reviews and to the internal financial reporting team for revenue related disclosures in annual financial statementsAddress contract-related issues from legal and sales teams with special consideration to billing and revenue recognition implications

· Lead process improvement and system implementation projects

· Perform other ad hoc responsibilities as necessary

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

· Minimum 10 years of revenue accounting experience required; experience in SaaS revenue is a must

· Advance knowledge of ASC 606 revenue accounting guidance

· Big 4 CPA firm (or regional equivalent) and public company experience required, licensed CPA preferred

· Experience partnering with FP&A to deliver insightful information

· Experience with project-based revenue accounting processes required

· Experience with complex multiple element arrangements required, SaaS or Software company preferred

· Experience with revenue system implementation a plus
