Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Transportation Planner II to be based in our Los Angeles, CA Office.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the study and analysis of different modes of transportation and environmental analyses which enables the development of transportation infrastructure. Performs technical studies to improve existing transportation facilities and develops plans for new transportation infrastructure.  Understands local/regional transportation planning processes and policies in the Los Angeles area. The position provides the opportunity to work on multi-modal transit planning, including light rail, heavy rail, high speed rail, intercity rail, bus rapid transit, bicycle and pedestrian planning and implementation. Supports efforts such as feasibility studies, alternative analyses, CEQA/NEPA environmental clearance, comprehensive planning, neighborhood planning, public involvement and outreach activities, travel demand forecasting, traffic engineering, transit operations planning, cost estimating, and emerging and innovation technologies to reduce congestion, pollution or the impact of vehicles in cities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts transportation and environmental planning on major transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Performs quantitative analysis and calculations to support technical planning studies, including traffic analysis, travel market analysis, economic analysis, transit operations, and comparative evaluation of alternatives.
  • Write technical planning reports and environmental impact reports. 
  • Support project management efforts on major transit infrastructure projects
  • Prepare graphical presentations to convey findings for client and public presentations. 
  • Creates mapping and manipulation of data using GIS and other mapping tools.
  • Supports business development efforts such as preparing technical content for proposals. 

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters in Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.
  • Experience in preparing CEQA/NEPA Environmental Clearance Documentation for Transit Infrastructure Projects.
  • Technical experience with Southern California Transportation Agencies.

  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $64,000 - $100,000.
