About the role

JOB SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Clerk interacts with customers in gathering information, ringing sales on the cash register, accepting payment, and providing a high level of customer care and service.  The Pharmacy Clerk is also responsible for maintaining and stocking the front end of the pharmacy.  Will be expected to cross-train at multiple locations.

How You’ll Impact Patient Care:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathers patient information, provides accurate answers to inquiries, processes payments, and expresses gratitude to all customers.
  • Inputs necessary data into the computer system in compliance with legal requirements and follows all cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Answers incoming calls and directs callers to the appropriate personnel as necessary.
  • Holds responsibility for the upkeep of the pharmacy’s front end, aiding in the maintenance of stocks to ensure the availability of quality pharmaceutical products & supplies.
  • Adheres to general pharmacy standards to promote a cooperative work environment through effective communication and team building. 
  • Contributes to the planning process by setting personal goals that support efforts for quality improvement and the attainment of departmental objectives.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality improvement within the Pharmacy Department and adheres to the philosophy and the principles of Total Quality.
  • Proactively takes the initiative for professional growth and development. 

What You Will Need 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Nice To Have (Not Required) 

  • 1-2 years’ retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with patients and caregivers in a positive and professional manner.
  • Provide information for patients and staff that is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Typing and computer skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus.
