Job Description

The Technical Product Specialist is responsible for use of multiple instrumentation software systems; writing, evaluating, and optimizing test programs; verifying proper functioning of reagents on the instrumentation; and troubleshooting and repair of equipment. This position also includes travelling on short notice, and providing technical support to customers via telephone, email, and on-site communications. Responsibilities also include establishing, maintaining and evaluating all sales support initiatives of the company’s overall sales goals and objectives. Which includes conducting operational and logistical support to enhance customer relationships and meet organizational goals and objectives

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Represent and promote the products and mission of the company in a positive and professional manner at all times
  • Assist with account management and development of customer accounts
  •  Establish leads and strategic business relationships with customers.
  • Ensure the smooth flow of information between customers, company management and other parties involved in the sales process
  • Send or deliver marketing materials or technical documents to customers upon request
  • Coordinate and schedule company resources to facilitate an efficient purchase, delivery and follow-up experience for all customers
  • Conduct well organized product presentations and demonstrations to customers as well as at conventions
  • Research products and consult technical experts as needed to answer customer questions
  •  Assist and maintain customer reporting and CRM data management
  •  Work with Technical Account Managers to effectively coordinate travel and strategy to assist the opportunity funnel
  • Test reagents in customer laboratories on new and existing diagnostic instrumentation
  •  Verify proper functioning of instruments
  •  Write test files using different software systems
  •  Provide technical assistance to laboratory for hardware, software and reagents
  • Recognize and communicate product issues, complaints, improvements and resolutions
  •  Troubleshoot, test, and repair new and existing diagnostic instrumentation
  •  Install diagnostic instruments into customer laboratories
  • Train customers
  •  Assist laboratory with meeting their regulatory requirements
  • Accurately maintain biological reagents
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in biological science or other field related to the position. Degrees in Science or engineering are acceptable.
  •  At least 1-3 years previous work experience in a similar position required
  •  Previous experience in the medical service or medical products industry preferred
  • Prior experience with diagnostics reagents preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
