About the role

About Charta Health

In an industry where the focus should rightly be on delivering quality care to patients, healthcare providers remain burdened by the complexities of non-clinical operations. Charta is changing that.
We're building the operating system for modern healthcare organizations. Our AI platform streamlines critical workflows across revenue cycle, clinical operations, and administrative functions, helping providers and payers operate more efficiently and deliver better patient care. We're on a mission to make every healthcare dollar accountable and every chart accurate.
Since our founding, Charta has experienced strong momentum, partnering with forward-thinking healthcare organizations to transform how they manage operations at scale. Our Seed and Series A were both led by Bain Capital Ventures, who believe in our vision to modernize healthcare infrastructure and unlock capacity for providers to focus on what matters most—their patients.

About the Opportunity

As Charta Health's founding Talent Lead, you will be instrumental in building the engine that fuels our growth and mission. This is a unique opportunity to establish the entire talent acquisition function from the ground up in a rapidly scaling AI healthcare startup. You will partner directly with leadership to understand our ambitious goals and translate them into a strategic hiring plan. You'll design, implement, and manage the processes, systems, and strategies needed to attract, recruit, and retain top-tier talent across all departments, with an initial focus on technical roles vital to our AI-driven solutions. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and a passion for building high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.
What you'll do:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy aligned with Charta Health’s growth objectives and mission
  • Maintain our recruiting infrastructure, including Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other necessary tools
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle for all roles (technical, business, etc.), from sourcing and screening to offer negotiation and closing
  • Partner closely with hiring managers and leadership to define role requirements and create compelling job descriptions
  • Proactively source passive candidates using diverse methods and channels, building robust talent pipelines for current and future needs
  • Champion and cultivate an exceptional candidate experience that reflects Charta's culture and values
  • Develop and promote Charta Health's employer brand to attract high-caliber candidates
  • Establish key recruitment metrics and reporting cadences to track progress, identify bottlenecks, and inform strategy
  • Stay abreast of market trends, competitive landscape, and best practices in talent acquisition, particularly within the AI, tech, and healthcare sectors
  • Manage recruitment budget and vendor relationships effectively

You'd be a great fit if you have:
  • 5+ years of proven experience in full-cycle recruiting, with significant experience hiring for technical roles (e.g., AI/ML engineers, software engineers, data scientists)
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale a recruiting function, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Experience designing and implementing recruiting processes, strategies, and systems (including ATS selection/implementation)
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, execution-oriented approach – you're comfortable both planning and doing
  • Excellent sourcing skills with a track record of finding and engaging passive talent
  • The ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, build structure where none exists, and deliver results quickly
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex hiring processes simultaneously
  • Resilience, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving abilities to overcome recruitment challenges
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to understand how talent acquisition drives company success
  • Outstanding emotional intelligence, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience partnering with and influencing senior leadership and hiring managers
  • A genuine interest in the medical field and a passion for improving healthcare through technology

Nice to have:
  • Experience recruiting specifically within HealthTech industry
  • Prior experience as the first recruiting hire in a startup
  • Experience building and implementing employer branding initiatives
  • Data-driven mindset with experience leveraging analytics to improve recruiting outcomes
