Job Description

The Program Coordinator II assists schools in establishing and maintaining an active school wellness committee and provides the committee with resources and tools for engaging their school community in the creation of a healthy learning environment. PCII will work to develop relationships and engage community partners that will benefit both the schools and districts as well as MUSC BCCW.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and two years relevant experience.

Preferred Experience and Training:

Prefer candidates who are persistent and self-confident, who have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and who prepare ahead of time and are detail oriented. Applicants should be comfortable with public speaking and able to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders. Applicants should value diverse backgrounds and ideas and promote an inclusive environment in team building.  Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Job Duties:

  • 25%     Initiative Implementation: The Program Coordinator II (PCII) is responsible for implementation of MUSC Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness (BCCW) school-based wellness initiative in assigned school districts. PCII provides ongoing virtual and in-person support to participating schools as they implement school wellness policies and strategies. PCII will annually monitor and verify the implementation of wellness policies and strategies for year-end wellness award distribution. Travel to meet with assigned schools and districts will be required.

  • 20%     Community Engagement: PCII will attend local and statewide meetings relative to school wellness and MUSC BCCW. PCII is responsible for establishing new and maintaining existing partnerships that engage the community in school wellness efforts. PCII will also serve as the MUSC BCCW representative on planning committees and coalitions for assigned counties. They are responsible for attending monthly meetings and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of committee goals in relation to MUSC BCCW scope of work. Travel to meet with community partners will be required.

  • 20%     Communication and Relationship Building: PCII oversees and manages communications with a wide spectrum of constituencies including but not limited to funders, school district staff, school staff, and community partners. PCII will collaborate with the team to create monthly email campaigns highlighting relevant grants, trainings, community partnerships, and other wellness-related opportunities. PCII will also build relationships with participating schools through frequent engagement, including in-person site visits, virtual meetings, phone calls, emails, and monthly email campaigns.

  • 15%     Trainings and Presentations: In collaboration with the team, PCII will plan, prepare, and conduct both in-person and virtual trainings/presentations on the implementation of evidence-based wellness strategies. Audiences will include school and district staff, school wellness committee members, health care providers, and community partners.

  • 10%     Reporting and Record Keeping: PCII will be responsible for compiling Initiative results and outcomes for reporting requirements associated with assigned districts. They will provide support to the Digital and Communications Coordinator in the creation of the MUSC BCCW Impact Report by coordinating interviews with school staff, scheduling site visits, and assisting with content creation. PCII will also be responsible for maintaining a detailed record of communication with assigned schools, districts, and community partners in Salesforce.
