Position Summary
Under the direction of the senior leader, the Wellness Supervisor supervises various aspects of the wellness department; including retention of existing members; supervision of assigned staff through the development and execution of successful health and wellness programs to achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding customer service to all.

Job Responsibilities
- Create and implement wellness and lifestyle programs, personal training and group exercise participation through product knowledge and interactions with existing and potential members. Collaborate with department leads to maximize enrollments in program registration.
- Analyze data, systems and processes to recognize growth and retention opportunities within the Wellness department.
- Ensure proper implementation of wellness floor schedules and procedures to provide maximum opportunities for member/staff connections. Collaborate and work effectively with all departments to achieve desired results.
- Utilize systems for regularly scheduled fitness equipment inspections to ensure proper and efficient working order at all times. Coordinate and schedule equipment maintenance and repairs. Purchase equipment, parts and supplies approved by the purchase requisition process.
- Monitor daily operations to adhere to all YMCA of Central Florida health and safety standards and policies. Ensure all staff are current with required certifications.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations or when rescue or first aid is necessary
- Enforce all safety rules fairly, consistently with tact and respect.
- Plan and execute Healthy Living events at the Family Center. Promote the Family Center and the YMCA of Central Florida’s special events among the members and community.
- Assist family center leadership in volunteer development and community partnership efforts
- Stays current with industry trends and wellness and fitness techniques
- Recruit, select, develop and retain appropriate skill depth level for the department. Supervise department staff. Support training and career succession plan for staff team.
- Collaborate with the District Vice President/Executive Director to plan and manage the Wellness budget. Control payroll and department purchasing costs within the budget and financial guidelines.
- Report all accidents/incidents and follow the Association’s current employee and member injury reporting procedures.

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Associates degree in exercise science or related field strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years proven experience in managing/supervising staff
- Previous experience as a wellness coach/instructor preferred.
- Ability to teach group exercise classes or conduct personal training preferred
- Current certification in Group Exercise by a recognized provider, i.e., AFAA, ACE, ACSM or Personal Training certification preferred
- CPR, First Aid, AED Certification preferred prior to hire. Must obtain within 60 days of hire
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays as needed.
- Must be willing to work an on-call schedule rotation as required.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The employee must be able to perform medium work.
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity in order to accurately work on the phone, computer keyboard, and other equipment
