Assurance Senior Associate, Technology Product Owner

The Assurance Senior Associate, Technology Product Owner will be part of the BDO Advantage team, focused on strategic, impactful platforms used across the Assurance practice. The BDO Advantage initiative aims to standardize processes that drive expansive automation, digital relationship enablers, and emerging technologies that can be built upon for the future of assurance services work at BDO. This role will be key to the development of advanced technologies and requires an on-going dedication to developing best-in-class products.

The individual in this role will work closely with the Lead Product Owner managing the product strategy and direction, and assessing with roadmap planning, requirement gathering, and product deployments within an agile environment. They are the customer’s voice of the team, translating visions and ideas into features with detailed requirements. The rolealso works closely with the development team, which includes software engineers, designers, and quality assurance professionals. 

Job Duties:

• Assesses the business demands to support a data driven audit, evolves the product strategy in their area of product ownership
• Effectively prioritizes and manages the scope of each product launch to deliver key capabilities using agile methodologies
• Keeps product backlog well defined, organized, and prioritized on a continuous basis
• Documents feature and user stories, including specified acceptance criteria
• Aligns and influences stakeholders and resources globally; manages a cross-functional process for prioritizing and planning the roadmap and major product releases
• Plans the sprints with the development and testing team, and provides prioritization for each iteration, including coordination of dependencies with other product owners
• Prepares and participates in release and sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other agile events as needed
• Drives adoptions and ensures processes for users are easy and intuitive
• Provides updates to stakeholders and product management throughout the Lifecyle of the products
• Coordinates with key stakeholders to ensure products are in compliance with regulatory and firm-wide policies and requirements
• Monitors key performance metrics to ensure product performance and identify optimization opportunities

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance, required

Experience:

• Three (3) or more years of relevant experience, required
• Prior experience working as a Product Owner, required 
• Experience building and scaling products, required
• Experience with custom web applications, preferred
• Experience in audit and assurance or compliance related industries, preferred

License/Certifications:

• Certified Scrum Product Owner, Professional Scrum Product Owner, preferred

Software:

• Experience with managing user stories and backlog in Azure DevOps or similar products, required
• Experience with Microsoft suite of products, required 
• Experience with or knowledge of PowerApps platform, preferred
