Technician, Research Laboratory CJob Description Summary
The technician will assist the laboratory manager to perform complex laboratory maintenance tasks and other laboratory projects, as assigned. Will assists senior level researchers on various supervised research projects within the lab. The technician will carry out routine tasks such as preparation, place orders for supplies, help maintain inventory and place lab equipment in their designated areas at the end of the day.Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Will help plan and conduct basic experiments to meet research project objectives in the field of neurotrauma and neuroscience using both in vitro cell culture and in vivo animal models
- Closely collaborates with senior lab members and Principal Investigator (PI) on experimental work setups in accordance with established protocols. Handle controlled substances such as pharmaceutical, or hazardous materials; Have access to sensitive data related to research projects and grants such as intellectual property.
- Bench experiments include tissue culture, immunocytochemistry, standard tissue handling/processing, immunohistochemistry, and molecular and biochemical assays. Daily management of laboratory equipment, documentation and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/ program deliverables.
- Assists in performing laboratory experiments using rodent primary isolated neurons, human neurons differentiated from induced pluripotent stem cells, rodents and large animal models that include miniature swine.
- Maintain inventory of lab supplies, order supplies, oversee general laboratory maintenance and safety compliance
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
