RN PACU PRN SRT Days Position Summary
Registered Nurse under the direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, provides direct and/or indirect, safe and effective professional nursing care.  The RN assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating health care needs of all patients assigned.  The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to a patient population ranging from infant to geriatric, unless otherwise indicated.  Works collaboratively with the health care team, is customer focused and strives to meet unit and hospital goals.  Provides quality nursing care according to established practice standards and guidelines for the area(s) assigned.  Must be willing/able to float to other (comparable) nursing units, as requested/needed.

 

THE RN PACU PRN SRT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

Education 
1. Current unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina 
2. Successful completion of nursing service orientation program 
3. Attends IV Therapy training and/or demonstrates competency in intravenous therapy within one year 
4. Attends Skills Fair and completes yearly competency checklists 
5. Maintains competency and/or certification specific to departmental requirements 
6. Must have current BCLS, ACLS and PALS certifications 
7. Advanced certification in specialty field and/or participation in professional organization(s) encouraged 

Other Qualifications 
1. Previous hospital experience preferred 
2. Must have management and teaching ability 
3. Must be able to assume the role of a Charge Nurse as needed/requested

The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients. The RN assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process. The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and Infection Control, with the goal being to discharge the patient with an optimum level of care provided. Assumes responsibility for coordination and planning of patient care within the prescribed medical regime. Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy. Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster. Responsible for knowing the Hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.     

Education:

Required: Graduated from a state approved school of nursing or an accredited school.
Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing

Experience:

Preferred: Recent acute care experience.

Certifications:

Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy; CPR. AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
