Key Technology in seeking a Project Engineering Technician to support our customer integrations team. The Project Engineering Technician designs, modifies, and creates equipment and structures in which they integrate into customer solutions.
Essential Skills and Responsibilities
- Reviews rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from Design Engineers, Engineering Technicians, and/or Project Engineers.
- Drafts detailed drawings of all necessary elements of a required design including but not limited to assemblies, sub-assemblies, weldments, sheet metal flat patterns, and installation drawings.
- Computes weights of components, center of gravity, speed, and stroke using computer aided design tools.
- Create assemblies with multiple pieces of equipment, at least 3 to 5 pieces of equipment.
- Develops detailed Bills of Materials.
- Works in cooperation with Sales Engineers, Customer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, External Customers, and Vendors as required.
- Must recognize areas of technical requirements that need the advice and/or attention of qualified personnel.
- Create layouts / assemblies with 15 or more pieces of equipment.
- Own the layout of a single area in a processing plant.
- Participate with others in resolving customer issues.
Education and Experience
- Level 3: Associate's degree (A. A.) in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent from two-year college, a minimum of seven years CAD drafting experience and a minimum of seven years of related machine design experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work with mathematical fundamentals of plane, solid, descriptive geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- AutoCAD, Solidworks, Navisworks, Adobe, are the primary software packages used by this position, as well as MS Office products.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, kneel, crawl and climb. The employee occasionally works at heights and is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. The work environment includes manufacturing. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
