Primary Purpose:

The Senior Accountant will join the Global Benefit Accounting team and provide clear, accurate information for managing and analyzing the accounting and reporting for global benefits, in accordance with accounting principles, government regulations and company practice and policy. Joining an established team, you will also be responsible for various closing, accounting, and consolidation activities.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Prepare consolidated financial information from trust and recordkeeping statements for the financial reporting of U.S. benefit plans.  Prepare related financial statements and government forms.
  • Perform financial reporting processes which includes but not limited to monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement close procedures, account reconciliations (for assigned accounts), and functional analysis (including but not limited to P&L, balance sheet and various accounts).
  • Partner with Treasury on the weekly funding and monthly reporting for the U.S. defined benefit pension plans.  Reconcile funding amounts and analyze reimbursement from third parties.
  • Update monthly plan reporting packages and determine accounting entries for recurring and special pension accounting events
  • Assist with any special projects/assignments as applicable.            

 

Required Education/Experience:

  • Undergraduate Degree in accounting or finance. 
  • 3 years of accounting amd/or financial analysis experience.

 

Desired Skills and abilities

  • Experience working in an environment requiring analytical response to a variety of business issues.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical abilities and a thorough understanding of GAAP.
  • CPA and/or MBA or advanced Degree.
  • Ability to interpret and apply current US GAAP, accounting for complex transactions and internal controls in compliance with SOX.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as well as Hyperion Planner and SAP.
  • Highly organized and ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to communicate to present information, both verbally and written effectively with all levels of the organization.
