Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Artist to serve as a primary point of Unity expertise, and to acts as a bridge between game studio artists and engineers to ensure that the player-facing vision for our games is achieved. A strong familiarity with Unity and C# will be required to manage and improve the content creation pipeline, coach game artists on asset implementation, and optimize the performance of effects-heavy content. Other duties include staying on the cutting edge of Unity’s many features, and the mentoring and guiding of more junior technical artists.
Essential Job Functions:
Implement art assets in Unity
Identify and solve technical issues related to the art pipeline
Mentoring of more junior technical artists on the team
Provide artists with technical feedback to ensure the creation of optimized assets
Document and evangelize best practices
Profiling game performance and applying art optimization techniques
Creation of tools to assist in the artistic pipeline
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor of Arts in art, animation, computer science, or equivalent experience
At least six years’ experience in game development
At least four games shipped using Unity
Required Experience:
Unity expertise, including Prefabs, Particle Systems, and Materials
Strong problem-solving skills
Fluency in C#, with a working knowledge of object-oriented programming
Working knowledge of 2D graphic software (Photoshop preferred)
An understanding of artistic concepts and pipeline
Working knowledge of animation state machines
Familiarity with motion graphics & compositing editors (After Effects preferred)
Familiarity with 3D animation & rendering applications (3DS Max preferred)
Working knowledge of versioning software (Perforce preferred)
Experience working with a team under tight deadlines
Self-motivated and able to work on multiple projects with minimal direction
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel and Outlook
Bonus XP:
Experience leading or mentoring, especially other tech artists
Proficient in Photoshop and After Effects
