About Our Role

- Permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday
- Based in Kelso (Bathurst), Central West NSW
Here at Simplot Kelso we have an opportunity for a suitably experienced Quality Technologist to join our site based Quality team. Simplot Kelso is our seafood and snacking processing plant, producing approx. 50 tonnes of product daily (75 SKUs) for the retail and foodservice markets including Birds Eye, I&J and Captain's Catch branded products. The site employs approx. 120 local employees, with approximately 95% of manufactured goods consisting of either Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) or Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seafood.
Reporting to the QA Manager and working as part of the QA team, this Monday to Friday role will contribute significantly to the implementation, maintenance and correct functioning of the facility's Quality Management Systems to align with Simplot's Food Safety requirements.
What You Will Do
As a key member of the Quality team, duties will include but are not limited to;
- Manage document control processes, ensuring documentation is current, controlled, and compliant with internal and external standards.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct internal audits against standards, procedures, and regulations and support external audits by certification bodies, customers, or regulators.
- Track audit findings, create corrective actions, and verify closure.
- Monitor compliance across departments and manage the CAPA process (Corrective/Preventive Actions).
- Maintain the Food Safety pre-requisite programs including GMP, Pest control, Sanitation, Calibration.
- Assist with the implementation of process-improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance processes, reduce errors, and improve consistency.
- Collect data and generate trend analysis and quality performance reports.
- Support risk assessments (HACCP, quality risk registers) and ensure risk controls are documented, monitored, and reviewed.
- Support customer complaint investigations and documentation.
