The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
 

As a Senior Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Implementing programs to improve quality, reduce cost, qualify alternate source-of-supply and expand product offerings to continue strong growth in the retail home care business.
  • Initiating and leading laboratory experiments focused in core nonwoven scouring technology at key manufacturing sites.
  • Working closely with cross-functional team, including Laboratory, Business / Marketing, Supply Chain / Sourcing, Regulatory and Quality, to drive key Change Management Process (CMP) programs forward for existing products and product line extensions.
  • Verifying and documenting product specifications for existing and new products in 3M Product Lifecyle Management (PLM) system.
  • Conducting product claims testing, test method development including DOE and document test results via claim substantiation process in 3M PLM system.
  • Supports, as a team member, on NPI teams to drive implementation and launch.
  • Leading technical team for class 3 NPIs

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of experience in quality, manufacturing and or product/process development in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Good statistical background
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in non-woven materials and coatings
  • Experience leading and/or participating on cross functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong communication skills both verbal and written, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities.

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 3 days per week)

Travel: May include up to 10% Domestic/International

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
