Overview

SMS is seeking a Project Controller II / Team Lead to support a dual role of leading a project implementation team and providing project management (e.g schedule creation, task tracking, status reporting, etc. ) of an acquisition team. This is a dynamic position with the opportunity for the right candidate to shape their own role to provide the greatest value to the customer. The project implementation is for a new, key capability and project coordination with the acquisition team developing new capabilities and services.

Responsibilities

Primary duty function includes:

  • Track project deliverables, ensure timely delivery of due outs, report status, and assist with mitigating issues or escalating as needed
  • Coordinate and communicating with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Consolidate those inputs into the response template or a presentation brief
  • Track actions through completion and response
  • Lead a team of other Project Controllers
  • Must be able to coach staff to successfully achieve outcomes with positive reinforcement
  • Provide process governance and recommend improvement opportunities 
  • Provide project management support (e.g. schedule creation, task tracking, status reporting, issue mitigation, etc.) for the acquisition team

Additional duty functions:

  • Organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information for the executives to facilitate efficient and effective decision making. Provides analysis of requests received to identify patterns and communicates that information to stakeholders for awareness.
  • Acts as a communication liaison between the information requester, leadership, and stakeholders. Coordinates cross-division communications and assists with delivery for all taskings requiring their input.
  • Create schedules for deliverables and ensures timely completion of all taskings.
  • Requires comprehensive knowledge of the Army organization, key stakeholders, and overall Directorate’s function.
  • Provide review and follow-up of organization-directed assignments, stakeholder data calls, and assures that the organizational goals, objectives, and all deadlines are met.
  • Must be self-driven with ability to coordinate schedules, prioritize taskings, and drive completion of deliverables to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic, multi-division environment.
  • Strategic and critical thinker, action-oriented, and collaborative individual with ability to navigate challenges to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Occasional travel may be expected to travel for this position.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:          

  • Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Accounting, Business Management, or related field
  • Must possess at the time of hire, and maintain, a SECRET clearance 
  • Track record of balancing the coordination of fast-paced daily priorities with important, longer-term taskings
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, including proactively executing tasks
  • Ability to navigate competing stakeholder priorities to ensure timely completion

Preferred Requirements:         

  • Masters Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Accounting, Business Management, or related field 
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, Cloud technologies and terminology
  • PMP certification
  • Agile certification (Scrum, SAFe, etc.)
  • DAU acquisition certifications
