Our kit and component manufacturing sites are situated across the US (Middleton, Petaluma, and Novato) and Europe (Berlin and Lystrup) and are underpinned by either ISO 13485 or ISO 9001 compliance. These capabilities support a wide portfolio of off-the-shelf components and kits critical to NGS workflows including magnetic beads, oligos, enzymes, and library prep kits. Additionally, our primary manufacturing capabilities enable customization and bulk (OEM) manufacture of reagents such as key NGS enzymes for high volume applications.
Job Description
As a subject-matter expert on the Lab Services team, the Lab Services Process Lead serves as the key coordinator of specific operational processes involving library consolidation and sequencing. Additionally, the Process Lead is responsible for ensuring the effective validation and quality control (QC) of probe panels supporting specific technical and operational workflows. Drawing on proven experience in wet-lab setting(s), this knowledgeable team member serves as a gatekeeper of designated operational workflows and consultant on various technical matters within the lab.
- Liaise with members of the Lab Services team, using data from relevant laboratory information management system (LIMS) and supporting software to anticipate sequencing requirements from various technical workflows
- Effectively prioritize projects based on previously provided deadlines and related criteria
- Ensure probe panels meet designated QC and customer standards, including validation of effectiveness
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to confirm effective logistics, shipment, and sequencing of libraries
- Communicate with Bioinformatics to certify that quality control standards are met for designated projects, provide Bioinformatics with information pertinent to successful computational analysis
- Collaborate with Bioinformatics and direct manager to improve quality of library preparations, based on feedback from sequencing analysis
- Analyze data sets and create reports suitable for presentation to management/leadership
- Update LIMS and other IT infrastructure to ensure up-to-date, accurate project information
- Consult train other technicians on various operational workflows and analytical matters, including probe synthesis, QC and validation, and pool organization for sequencing
- Provide designated support to teams in QC and project management; independently execute related tasks as directed
- As required, successfully determine the type of materials required for sequencing needs and interact with third-party providers to confirm materials are in appropriate supply
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant life sciences field (e.g. molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry)—or equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable work experience
- Proven knowledge and experience performing next generation sequencing (NGS) techniques within a lab setting, either commercial or academic
- Proven technical skills with molecular biology techniques (e.g. pipetting, performing QC workflows, NGS library pooling)
- Technical ability to read and interpret scientific data
- Demonstrable track record working as part of a cross-functional team
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in relevant life sciences field (e.g. molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry)
- Prior experience working with LIMS
