Business Development Consultant, Office of Administration, Equal Opportunity Office
This role is responsible for ensuring that small businesses are accurately evaluated and meet the eligibility criteria for certification programs administered by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The position supports the agency in fulfilling federal program requirements and maintaining funding eligibility.
Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive reviews to prevent fraud and ensure that only qualified firms are certified. The Business Certification Consultant also plays a vital role in the monthly processing of approximately 30 certification applications, 185 affidavits, and managing over 500 emails received through program inboxes.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Serves as the primary point of contact for business certification programs, supporting daily operations and administrative activities such as processing affidavits and applications. Monitors program email inboxes, responds to phone inquiries, and assists customers - including the public, applicants, local governments, state Department of Transportations (DOT's), and other certifying agencies – with questions related to certification procedures.
