Chapman University and Schmid College of Science and Technology seek applications for a Part-time Lecturer for Chemistry of Life (CHEM 101, for non-STEM majors) for Fall 2025.

Schmid College of Science and Technology is one of 11 schools and colleges in the University. Responsibilities:

  • Teach one course section that meets twice a week for 75-minute lectures throughout the semester.  
  • Each week includes preparing course material, holding office hours, and grading all assignments submitted by the students.  
  • The lecturer must be available to attend instructor orientations before the start of the semester.
  • This course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00 - 5:15 p.m.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
  • Strong commitment to student learning, quality teaching, and academic excellence.
  • Demonstrated appreciation for students' active role in learning and a commitment to personalized education within the Chapman Classroom Experience.

Desired qualifications:

  • A completed or in-progress graduate degree (Ph.D or Master’s) in a STEM discipline.
  • University or community college teaching experience, specifically with introductory STEM courses, such as introductory chemistry, general chemistry and/or organic chemistry.
