At MODIFI you will have a great opportunity to not only be a contributor to MODIFI's business payments and global Buy-Now-Pay-Later offering, but also actively help develop global fintech partnerships. This role is based in the Amsterdam, Netherlands office of MODIFI.</p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Your impact:</strong></p><ul> <li>MODIFI is a truly global Fintech company with customers in more than 15+ markets around the globe. </li> <li>You continuously improve MODIFI's legal and financing framework.  </li> <li>You are able to immerse yourself in technical details but can also take a helicopter view on the role of Legal in the Fintech space. </li> <li>MODIFI needs a strong generalist who is comfortable providing legal input on a range of topics that include commercial contracting, payments, trade finance, financial regulation, data privacy and developing new products on the edge between technology and finance. </li> <li>You are keen to develop your expertise, but you don't hide behind it.</li> <li>You understand that an excellent legal counsel combines legal strength with a healthy dose of pragmatism and commercial awareness. </li> <li>You work closely with the MODIFI Head of Legal and senior management and our Risk, Finance and local Sales teams.</li> <li>You are a trusted adviser to our stakeholders and in key strategic processes, such as developing trade financing products, building fintech partnerships and raising debt and equity financing.</li> </ul><p></p><p><strong>Your responsibilities involve:</strong></p><ul> <li> <strong>Product &amp; Commercial:</strong> You work with Product and Engineering teams on new product solutions, such as an embedded finance solution for global collections of payments. You provide legal input on product design and compliance but you also drive commercial contracting with financial infrastructure providers, partners and customers. to grow our fintech business in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.</li> <li> <strong>Regulatory: </strong>You provide legal advice on regulatory matters ranging from financial and payments regulations to data privacy.</li> <li> <strong>Strategic Projects:</strong> The Legal team is coordinating strategic projects that are critical for MODIFI's success, such as equity financing (VC rounds) and refinancing of trade receivables.</li> </ul><p></p><h3>These are the skills and attitude that you bring: </h3><ul> <li>An LLM and 5+ years of solid experience, for example as a lawyer at a reputable law firm and/or as a legal counsel at a fintech company.</li> <li>Given the global nature of our business, a strong candidate has practiced in an international environment with exposure to different (foreign) laws, regulations and cultures.</li> <li>Experience with any of the following is a strong plus: fintech start-ups / scale-ups, structured and commodity finance, trade finance, cross-border transactions, international trade and payments.</li> <li>Managing complex legal and commercial projects including managing foreign legal counsel efficiently.</li> <li>You have a growth mindset. You build legal products and processes that are scalable. </li> <li>You make things happen by taking ownership for your work. You talk straight and build strong relationships with stakeholders.</li> <li>You have solid legal skills, including research, drafting and giving concise and clear advice.
