Job Description
EAG Laboratories has a great opportunity for an entry level Service Engineer to provide hands-on Engineering service and support to our fleet of analytical instruments and ancillary equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and log routine/preventive and emergency service on instruments and peripherals according to maintenance plan/schedule, including: vacuum pumps, ovens, sputter coaters, purge boxes, secondary ion mass spectrometers (SIMS), auger electron spectrometers (AES), X-ray photoelectron spectrometers (XPS), stylus profilers.
- Install utility connections for equipment; including: electrical, deionized water, compressed air, pressurized gasses, vacuum lines, communication links, and customized needs as required.
- Troubleshoot and debug electronic circuitry (analog/digital).
- Maintain (including purchasing) and organize adequate stock levels of spare parts and peripherals.
- Maintain and create technical documentation, procedures, schematics, work instructions, and parts lists.
- Provide timely updates to management in the form of status reports and service reports.
- Assist and support facility/infrastructure when needed to maintain suitable working environment for instruments.
- Assist with the development and implementation of computer-based service management system.
- Provide collaboration on day to day building function, operations including areas in safety, maintenance, and facilities.
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
Qualifications
Experience in the following areas is desirable:
- AS degree in Electronics or BS degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 1 to 2 years hands-on experience troubleshooting equipment or instrumentation.
- CAD tools, Beam generating instruments (Electron, Ion, X-Ray, etc); high vacuum, electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Troubleshooting/repairing high voltage circuitry, high vacuum systems, analog/digital circuitry, electro-mechanical assemblies, and related systems preferred.
- Service experience with spectrometers, SEM, TEM, SIMS, X-Ray instrumentation.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of lifting up to 50lbs (with support).
- Must be able to stand and/or remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
- Require close distance visual acuity with or without correction (Glasses, Contacts, etc.)
- Ability to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.
- Ability to communicate clearly and understandably ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
- Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
