Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check. 

Essential Job Duties

Exposure to and understanding of finance, payroll, Federal & State Tax regulations, or accounting platforms is a plus. 

We are looking for an experienced technical product manager who wants to lead a world-class team of engineers and architects on one of our high performing Payroll Platform teams. The solutions you’ll develop and drive touch some of our most critical teams and internal processes. You will help build the foundational elements to power workflows and experiences that allow for the growth of our market-leading payroll business. This role is involved in delivering architecture and technical platform solutions to enable scaling, stability, high performance and processes for our internal Payroll Services teams responsible for managing and executing critical money movement, tax payment and filing workflows for our Payroll customers.

You will:

  • Work closely with engineering leads and architects to design scalable, secure, modern, compliant and performant platform solutions.
  • Develop a profound understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the Payroll domain through research and regular interaction with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Clearly define and frame internal customers’ challenges for your team while prioritizing opportunities for improvement.
  • Build strong relationships of trust with key business stakeholders that own the teams impacted by your work while creating alignment around strategy, roadmap, and execution prioritization for all efforts with those leaders.
  • Consistently deliver high-value solutions aimed at improving user behavior and outcomes for our internal payroll services teams and BambooHR
  • Strategically manage the product roadmap by capturing input from various sources, comprehending and prioritizing this input, and ensuring your team is focused on the most impactful projects.
  • Possess the ability to comprehend and communicate technical requirements effectively. Transform these requirements into actionable specifications for your engineering team.
  • Define solution scoped to the most compact and coherent state, allowing for early customer deployment.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of your solutions through quantitative and qualitative measures to ensure they successfully address the identified challenges.
  • Own and maintain the quality of the product areas your team is responsible for; deliver world-class software in every release.
  • Inspire and lead a team of dedicated, intelligent professionals to achieve their career best, fostering a culture of excellence.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • You feel aligned with the BambooHR values.
  • 3+ years experience as a product manager, with a proven track record of shipping impactful products.
  • Strong technical affinity, comfortable working with platform design and architecture.
  • Experience as a product manager in at least one of the following industries: Payroll, Fintech, Accounting, Payroll Tax, or Payments. Experience with Federal and State Tax requirements is a plus.
  • Expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience leading product discovery and delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience leading a team.
  • You can clearly communicate product decisions and the rationale behind them. You’re comfortable making decisions without consensus. You can help others make decisions by being persuasive.
  • You have deep experience working with qualitative customer insights, and quantitative customer data to inform decisions.
  • You’re entrepreneurial; you don’t need direction; you're self-driven.
  • You’re organized, not ad hoc.
  • You’re able to switch between thinking creatively and analytically easily.
