Position Overview
The Technical Engineering Technician will support Midland field operations through a combination of production operations, mechanical maintenance, process monitoring, troubleshooting, safety coordination, and technical engineering support. This is a hands-on field position requiring experience with oil, gas, water-handling, pumping, compression, or related industrial systems.
The two night-shift employees will initially work days before transitioning to nights. The positions currently participate in a callout rotation, which is expected to transition into a formal rotational schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain stable production from oil and gas wells and associated facilities.
  • Operate and monitor gas compressors, air compressors, pumping systems, pipelines, and water-handling equipment.
  • Identify equipment and process failures and coordinate maintenance to minimize deferred production.
  • Support preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance.
  • Monitor and control oil, gas, diluent, produced water, and injection-water systems.
  • Track well and facility operating variables and make process-control decisions.
  • Support the design, modification, and continuous improvement of pumping and production systems.
  • Perform production inspection, measurement, accounting, and daily reporting.
  • Assist with LAND flow measurement systems and positive-displacement meters.
  • Interpret operating data and monitor process and equipment performance.
  • Support well-control and surface-monitoring systems.
  • Develop and update operating, safety, and management-of-change procedures.
  • Assist with pipeline construction and field coordination activities.
  • Support cathodic protection monitoring for pipelines and storage tanks.
  • Prepare and control work permits and conduct job safety evaluations.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, operations, engineering, and construction personnel.
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, and operational requirements.
Candidate Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Field operations experience required.
  • Strong mechanical experience required.
  • Oil and gas operator experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with oil, gas, water-injection, storage, transportation, or production systems preferred.
  • Manufacturing, chemical plant, or refinery experience is a plus.
  • Instrumentation and electrical experience is a plus.
  • Industrial engineering experience is a plus.
  • Industrial safety and work-permitting experience is a plus.
  • Due-process background or procedural compliance experience is preferred.
  • Experience with pumping systems, multiphase pumps, compressors, pipelines, or production measurement is beneficial.
  • PIPESIM or similar process-simulation experience is beneficial.
  • HVAC, refrigeration, electrical troubleshooting, welding, or pressure-testing experience may be considered relevant.
  • Former ExxonMobil experience is a plus.
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Midland during the workweek.
  • Candidates outside Midland may be considered if they can meet the onsite requirement.
  • Must be willing to participate in callouts and accommodate future schedule changes.
