Technician I / Technician II – Materials and Processes Development Lab
Work in a high paced laboratory service environment supporting various aspects of a multi-disciplined chemical/physical testing laboratory organization. This laboratory position supports the manufacture and development all Ball Aerospace products used in commercial, scientific, and military applications.
What You’ll Do:
- Essential Functions and Responsibilities (based on assignment, employee may perform the following functions):
- Operate company-owned vehicles as required.
- Maintain valid driver’s license and good motor vehicle record.
- Build or process hardware of a developmental, prototype, or critical nature.
- Troubleshoot hardware or assemblies; check and modify chambers or fixtures.
- Conduct tests; monitor, analyze, reduce, and record data. Perform mathematical calculations.
- Assist in the development or preparation of schematics, designs, and specifications.
- May provide detailed written input for design reviews, proposals, specifications, work standards, and business processes.
- Read, comprehend, and execute technical process specifications, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain required electronic build records and process logs, records, and reports in accordance with Ball Aerospace policies/procedures and government regulations.
- Implement EHS processes and procedures; recognize safety hazards, including hazardous materials, and pursue corrective action when necessary.
- May make continuous improvement suggestions and participate in initiatives to improve productivity and process efficiency.
- Lead, train, and coordinate work schedules, priorities, and tasks of other technicians.
- In addition to the Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the position, and in support of the services provided by the lab, provide support in one or more of the following tasks:
- Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with 3D printing development and productions activities.
- Work with engineering team to develop new processes of 3D printing using multiple manufacturer equipment.
- Operate, maintain, program and troubleshoot multiple manufacture equipment.
- Prior experience with or knowledge of 3D printing is not necessary.
- Work with chemicals, cryogenics, hand tools, and power tools in a safe manner within a laboratory setting.
- Work within general laboratory, machine shop, cleanroom, and production floor settings.
- Daily work effort is in support of existing test procedures and assist in development of new test protocols.
- Work with minimal supervision, working to both verbal and written instruction.
- Accurately complete work in a timely manner.
- Support all programs at Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp, including but not limited to the Military, National Defense, and Civil business sectors.
- Reporting location will depend on business needs (Westminster, Broomfield, and/or Boulder campuses) and individual skill sets.
