We at Cloud Telephony team* are on a mission to enable AI-powered communication solutions for consumers and businesses through the Truecaller platform. The team will focus on creating cutting-edge cloud telephony solutions for consumers. The features the team will develop will affect the experience of hundreds of millions of users around the world directly, and will improve their daily interaction with their phone.

As a Senior Android Engineer in the Cloud Telephony team, you will be responsible for enabling and performing highly efficient application development, improving the Truecaller service and app for the Android platform. You will be deeply involved in the whole cycle of product development, from idea generation to delivery.

What do we expect from you

• Strong knowledge of the Android SDK (minimum 5 years of experience)
• 2+ years of writing fluent code for Android in Kotlin
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Experience in working with Agile methodologies
• Ability to make the right compromises to maximize early value delivery without compromising on quality

What will you work on

• Write simple, understandable, testable, and efficient code with a focus on solid technical stability and great user experience
• Drive technical improvement by applying software craftsmanship in everyday work as well as by identifying and executing larger refactoring/improvement initiatives
• Implement unit tests within the team’s responsibility area
• Take responsibility in maintaining high engineering standards, commitment to the product and respect and attitude towards others
• Active participation in other parts of the development lifecycle, such as feature grooming, code reviews

It would be great if you also have

• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices as well as an eye for design
• VoIP applications experience
• Knowledge of gRPC
• A knack for performance and optimization
